Works by Henri Matisse
Henri Matisse (1869–1954) was born in Le Cateau-Cambrésis, northern France and studied at the Académie Julian and the École des Beaux-Artsin Paris under Gustave Moreau. A leading figure of modern French art, Matisse continually explored the expressive possibilities of colour and shape, culminating in the celebrated Cut-Outs of his twilight years.
